In the last 2 weeks we’ve spent a bit of time back in the motherland of the Scottish Borders to have a look around TweedLove bike festival in Peebles. This festival offers 2 weeks of riding bikes and good times for every age and ability to enjoy. One of the events is called the Glentress 7 (or GT7) which is an endurance test for individuals & teams of 2 or 3 members. The aim of the game is to get up and down the hills and around the course as many times as possible within 7 hours, with each lap being recorded. We were there in support of our beau & buddy’s team ‘No Trance’ who were taking place for the first time. As a mark of support we designed and made each of the team, Graham, Bob & Mikey, a custom design hat with their Giant Trance bikes and team name in colours coordinating to their true love (their bikes). Having enjoyed the trails at the 7 stanes Glentress forest many a time, we were intrigued to see how the event would be put together. Upon arrival we were ushered to the car park field by a lovely smiley lady and given directions to where the event was taking place. Within the event space there was a nice wee village set up with some food and merchandise stalls and a great crowd of people with cowbells galore! The start of the race was extremely exciting watching all of the riders getting ready to go off in a mad dash together. As the day progressed there was much whooping and cheering to encourage all of the riders around the course in the incredible non typical weather! The sun was shining, the bikes were gleaming and our team No Trance kept their bobble hats on!
The following week we were back in Peebles to visit the village on the green for the Enduro World Series. This is such a massive event for TweedLove to host and again we were not let down by the layout and organisation from the committee. The village was well set out with a really good amount of global and local businesses showcasing their products and services. We had a chance to catch up with one of our customers, Singletrack Magazine, who came up from West Yorkshire as a main sponsor. We also dropped off a couple of new colours of their custom design hats, so you may see them on offer later in the year.
All in all both days that we were at Tweed Love were very enjoyable and a great day out for all of the family. Next year we’ll definitely be back to see more of the varied events which take place during the daytime and evenings throughout the weeks. Also, I think you may very well see a Team Wonky effort on the GT7, best get practicing! 😀
