Coming into Spring.
The first signs of Spring are appearing everywhere – daffodils sprouting up in the grass and the sun making a welcomed appearance in the sky.
Put a spring in your step.
Walk, run, or cycle it’s time to shake off the cobwebs and emerge from hibernation. As a company based in Kelso in the Scottish Borders we are spoiled for choice when it comes to walking routes through the rolling hills, woodlands, and rivers. We recommend Walk Scottish Borders, a fabulous guide to help you pick your next adventure.
Why Wear Wool?
With Spring comes the arrival of new born lambs which is good news to us knitters. Around the seven month mark the lamb is sheared for the first time and from this fleece lambswool is produced. This wool is super soft and lightweight. It is also great at regulating body temperature, keeping you warm in Winter and cool in the Summer. Perfect for those in between Spring days when the weather is prone to change!
We source all our lambswool yarn from family owned and run company Z. Hinchliffe & Sons Limited who have been based in Britain for over 200 years. They offer 120 beautiful shades in 100% pure lambswool. The business is certified with The Woolmark Company therefore attesting to their high quality. This certification is recognised worldwide.
What To Wear This Spring.
For those days when the weather is unpredictable, we recommend the Aran Hector hat and scarf set in 100% lambswool. This set is light to wear and offers a layer of insulation on those slightly fresher days. The chunky rib structure is shown on the outside of the hat and the inside is smoother to fit snug against the head. Each side of the scarf shows off the stitch formation.
We’ve used a deep shade of bordeaux blended with black to create a mottled effect in this scarf. To show off the structured fit, the two colours are separated in our fisherman style beanie hat.
We love this striking shade of gold which we’ve paired with a contrasting navy blue. The addition of the dark fold up gives an extra layer of warmth to this light wool hat.
New on the scene are our striped lambswool scarves which have proved a hit at Kelso Farmers Market. Also made in 100% pure lambswool these are a great addition to any outfit, adding a pop of colour. They’re not available on our website yet but get in touch if you’d like one made especially for you.
One For The Kids.
Made from soft 100% acrylic yarn are these kids’ bobble hats, featuring Barbar and Woolly the sheep. They are perfect for little ones as they’re comfortable to wear and the colours are vibrant. Machine washable too is a bonus, turn them inside out and pop them in the washing machine to freshen up. Available in two sizes, these hats will look great on your little lambs.
To sum it up, wool is a great addition to your wardrobe all year round. In these early days of Spring, the weather can change at the drop of a hat. Light to carry and easy to wear, our knits will keep you comfortable during your Springtime adventures.
