Early this year we completed an order of bespoke knitted hats for Black Sheep Brewery. Graham and I visited this impressive brewery in Masham, North Yorkshire during the summer. We’ve highlighted some features of the brewery, find out a bit more about their products and ours!

We’ve got our tickets ready and we’re really excited for this year’s Fort William Mountain Bike World Cup! As specialists in custom design knitting, we love to create bespoke hats for events. For instance, to celebrate this momentous event, we’ve designed and knit 3 custom design bobble hats using the UCI colours.
Hope Technology are global leaders in the design and manufacture of bike components. As an iconic British manufacturer we are very excited to work alongside them.
In September 2014 we were selected to produce an exclusive collection for the National Trust of Scotland. The design collective comprised of 9 independent makers. From textiles to silver work, pottery and wood, the group was varied and full of ideas.
Judith Glue is well known in the knitwear world, having been in business since she was 18 years old. When we met Judith at Scotland’s Spring Trade Fair we were really excited to be asked to create a set of bespoke bobble hats for her brand.
We were delighted when Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon asked us to create a hat for Princess Charlotte. Being a gift from Scotland, we felt a unique tartan design would be fitting for the occasion.
On Friday 6th March we were incredibly privileged to have a visit from Scotland’s First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon. The visit was in honour of International Women’s day (today 8th March) where the First Minister is encouraging more women into business to help boost our economic growth here in Scotland.
We’ve an exciting new stockist to add to our expanding portfolio. Named the Accessories Designer of the Year at the Scottish Fashion Awards 2014, Milliner Joyce Paton is adding our branded hats to her shop.
It’s that time of year again when Team Wonky are finalising all of our orders to be sent from Scotland over to our Japanese stockists. We’ve got 5 orders totaling over 1000 handmade luxury bobble hats this year which are being knitted now and will hit the shelves in October.
Wonky Woolies – a knitwear house headed up by ‘chief Wonky’ Alison Burn – marries traditional techniques with contemporary output in the form of a range of standard and custom-made bobble hats created with old knitting machines. The result is an unusual combination of expert functionality and bold, modern aesthetic.
Chief Wonky, Alison, was recently approached by the Scottish Development International team to give her own account of the world of exporting. This story has now been featured in the current BQ Magazine publication.
