The Moss Stitch, British wool jumper.

Introducing our new moss stitch jumper, which has been designed, knitted and hand finished by our team in Kelso, Scottish Borders.  Our moss stitch jumper pairs the durability of 100% British wool with the refined hand-eye coordination of traditional Borders craftsmanship.

This is the first jumper our team of makers have produced in our workshop in Kelso.  We have spent many hours testing the wool, the fit and the finish to ensure we create the highest quality of knitwear for you.  As we are a small team of artisan makers, we do not have a stock of jumpers waiting in the wings.  We are offering this jumper on a pre-order basis, which will be delivered in October to celebrate wool month.

Features

The moss stitch texture creates pockets of air that provide a lovely drape and a lightweight feel.  We celebrate the handcraft of linking by showing the reverse of the chain stitch around the neck line, which is usually hidden on garments.  This feature identifies the product as a hand crafted piece, where a skilled maker has taken time to align every stitch of the collar to bind it to the jumper.  We have also carefully considered the spring in the cuffs and waistband of this jumper.  By using wool, which has natural elasticity, and knitting a ribbed structure, it holds the shape naturally without the addition of elastic.

Size guide

We have designed our moss stitch jumper in a relaxed, drop shoulder style.  This is an effortless style to wear, which can transition throughout the seasons as a wardrobe essential.

The size is fluid, and depends upon how you like your jumper to feel when you wear it.  The drop shoulder works as a slouch/oversized style, and fits more closely on broad shoulders.

Size 1 = chest 53cm, shoulder to hip 68cm, shoulder to cuff 70cm.

Size 2 = chest 60cm, shoulder to hip 74cm, shoulder to cuff 70cm.

British wool

We love Laxton’s sheepsoft range of wool, which we launched in our cable knit socks last year.  Sheepsoft uses Bluefaced Leicester and Masham fleece, for comfort and durability.  Laxtons source this wool within 50 miles of their Mill in West Yorkshire.  It then travels up to us in Kelso, where we knit and hand finish each jumper individually in our workshop.

This jumper is for life

Our team are passionate about producing individual handcrafted knitwear, that will bring your warmth and joy for years to come.  We use wool as it is a breathable and natural fibre.  This means it doesn’t require washing often, and can stay fresh for years by hanging it up.

If you want to wash your wool jumper, here are two methods to keep it safe.

• Handwash in lukewarm water with a little drop of wool wash.  Rinse it and squeeze out the excess water.  Try not to wring out wet wool as this can harm the fibres and cause the garment to misshape.  Roll your jumper flat in a towel to remove excess moisture and dry it flat near a heat source.
• Machine wash on a cool, wool cycle with a little drop of wool wash.  Excessive heat will shrink your wool garment.  We recommend 30 degrees with a slow spin afterwards and then dry it flat near a heat source.
• You can iron the jumper to remove any creases.

British wool socks

If you love to match your knitwear, our British Wool cable knit socks are also available on a pre-order.  We launched these last year and have been wearing them ever since.  To keep efficiency in our yarn stock, we are offering them in the same 3 colours as the jumper.  Select a pair to arrive in the same parcel and be cosied up for Autumn.
