HOORAY! WE WON AN AWARD!

This Tuesday, in the plush surroundings of the Glasgow City Chambers, we had the privilege of being awarded the RBS Most Enterprising Business Award at the 2014 Jobs and Business Glasgow Enterprise Awards.

The day began with a showcasing event where we displayed, for the very first time, our new Scottish Heritage range which takes popular Scottish icons such as Nessie, stags, sheep and tartan, and wonks them up in different crazy colour combos. They will be officially launched in later in the year, along with our super sleek new website. Watch this space!

The awards were introduced by Chair of Jobs and Business Glasgow Baillie Jonathan Findlay, Leader of Glasgow City Council Gordon Matheson, Principal and Vice Chancellor of University of Strathclyde Professor Sir Jim McDonald and hosted by sports journalist Alison Walker- each discussing the huge excitement and potential around the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and its legacy.

We had butterflies in our stomachs as the ceremony progressed and couldn’t believe it when Wonky Woolies was announced winner of the RBS Most Enterprising Business of the year! We think there were screeches, and Head Wonky Alison, can’t even remember what she said in her acceptance speech! It is a huge honour and such a fantastic boost to Team Wonky- recognising all of the hard work that has gone on in the past two years and looks towards a bright and exciting future. Needless to say, the day ended with a glass of celebratory fizz or two!

Competition was stiff against BabyBWell and Jill Kirkham, so congratulations to them too. We must thank Jobs and Business Glasgow and in particular, our business advisor Mark Bradford, who has been an invaluable source of advice and support. It felt great taking part in the showcase at the start of the day which really highlighted the variety and quality of creative businesses in Glasgow. So a big hello to our lovely showcase neighbours who included the fabulous fashion designer and ex Vivienne Westwood employee,Simon Crawley, events organisers Visual Statement, travel scarf / pillow manufacturers trtl, molecular food and drink pairing specialists Scotch Broth Events, augmented reality app developers PrintAR, delicious Lewaliscious Cakes (we can highly recommend the white chocolate and pistachio) and gorgeous Glasgow skyline inspired screen printed textiles by the aforementioned Jill Kirkham.
