Fort William Mountain Bike World Cup

An exciting year

Since 2014 Team Wonky have made the journey to Fort William to watch the Mountain Bike World Cup. This year we are very excited to be exhibiting for the first time! We’ll be set up in the bustling event village alongside industry leaders.

When, where and how

The event village is open at Nevis Range from Friday 31st May, while downhill training takes place. Race days start on Saturday 1st June with the mini Downhill, DH qualifying and the Stoats 4 x race. On Sunday 2nd June you’ll see all DH finals take place followed by the awards ceremony. Click here to see the full event schedule.

Tickets are available in advance here but you can also pay on the day. As gondola passes sell out fast, we recommend buying in advance. From the top of the hill you get to see all DH riders start. You can either ride back down on the gondola or walk the track. It’s a steep walk so make sure you have good shoes on. Don’t forget your cow bell and horn to cheer the riders as they wizz past you!

A ride up the Gondola gets you a premium view of the track

Who will be there?

Alongside ourselves, you’ll find an array of top bike and outdoor brands in the event village. Click here to see the full list. We’re displaying a selection of custom design hats including Singletrack Magazine and Hope Technology. If you’ve been thinking about a custom hat for your brand, team or yourself, come and have a chat. This is a good opportunity to have a look at what’s achievable. We’ll also have a selection of our Wonky Woolies on sale ready to take home with you.

A place to meet your idols!

Graham and I have been to the Mountain Bike world Cup in Fort William and Mont Saint-Anne in Canada. Both events have had a relaxed festival atmosphere, making it a great opportunity to meet your MTB idols.

Meeting Katy Curd after she nailed the Steve Smith drop in Mont Saint-Anne

The Hope Tech team will be at Fort William supporting one of my favourite riders, Katy Curd. I have been in awe since watching her smash the 4 X event in 2014. The following year Katy moved back into downhill and I was thrilled to see her take 5th place. When she later stepped on the podium wearing the hat I gifted her, I almost lost my voice! As well as being awesome on the bike Katy is lovely to talk to, she runs her own coaching sessions in the Forest of Dean.

A great weekend in Scotland

Being seasoned visitors, the Mountain Bike World Cup is one of our favourite events of the year. Fort William is a lovely place to visit, surrounded by spectacular scenery. While you’re there, take a few days to visit the town and surrounding area. From outdoor activities to taking a tour of the distillery or exploring nearby Glenfinnan, there lots to do. We hope to see you there!
